About us

The Family Behind the Fabric

The Linen Company is a family-run textile brand. Three generations of our family have worked in cloth since 1990. We are designed in New York and made with care, and we now sell directly to homes in the UAE, with no middlemen between the loom and your bed.

If you found us on Google and do not know who we are, this is who is behind your sheets, and why it matters when you are choosing what to sleep on.

Who we are

We are a family business, not a trading label. Our expertise runs through three generations of textile work, and our family has been making fabric since 1990.

For years that work was done for other brands. We made cloth that was sold under well-known global names, and our own name stayed off the label. The Linen Company is what happens when the family puts its own name on the product and sells it directly.

Why it matters who makes your bedding

Most home brands buy finished sheets from a supplier, add a label and a markup, and sell them. The brand never sees the cloth being made, so it cannot say much about it.

A family that has spent decades in textiles can. We know what a weave is, why a yarn pills, and how a sheet should feel after fifty washes. That knowledge is why our product pages name the fibre, the weave and the thread count, and why we write guides such as sateen or percale and how to choose a duvet cover set. If we cannot tell you what is in the cloth, we should not sell it.

How cloth becomes a bed

It helps to know the road a sheet travels, because each step shows up in how it feels.

  • Spinning. Cotton fibre is twisted into yarn. Longer fibres make a smoother, stronger yarn.
  • Weaving. Yarn is woven into cloth. The weave, percale or sateen, decides whether it feels crisp or silky.
  • Finishing. The cloth is washed, dyed or printed, and softened.
  • Stitching. The cloth is cut and sewn into sheets, covers and pillowcases.

A brand that buys finished goods only sees the last step. A family that has worked in textiles for three generations understands all four, and can tell you which step made the difference.

Three questions to ask any bedding brand

Whoever you buy from, ask these before you order:

  • What is the fibre? "100% cotton" is a fact. "Cotton feel" is not.
  • What is the weave and the thread count? A good product page states both.
  • Who stands behind it? Look for a real address, a real store and a clear exchange policy.

We try to answer all three on every page.

What we mean by no middlemen

No middlemen means there is no distributor or reseller between us and you. What you pay goes to making the product well, not to extra layers of margin. It also means that if something is wrong, you are talking to the people who made it.

What we sell in the UAE

We began with bedding and now cover more of the home: bedding, bath, accessories, and pillows and inserts. Most of our sheets and duvet covers are 100% cotton, in sateen and percale weaves.

Where to see it in person

Our first UAE store is at City Centre Al Zahia in Sharjah, on the third floor, beside Emax and Pappa Roti. You can touch the cloth before you buy. Our store locator has the details.

If you would rather order online, delivery takes two to four business days. We offer 14 days for returns and 30 days for exchanges. The full terms are on the returns and exchanges page.

What you can expect from us

  • Product pages that say what the cloth is made of.
  • Guides that explain our choices in plain words.
  • Plain answers when you write to us at hello@thelinen.company.
